There are a lot of things which are different about PJT. The first thing is Attitude. Our team are outstanding in their chosen field, they work hard, they play hard, and go the distance for our clients. Attitude is about how you think and act, and looking at things from a client's perspective, or from a completely different perspective to achieve the best outcome for the client. Here are some of the things we do as a firm and a team to build on this philosophy:
PJT has 10 Commandments of Service which all team members adhere to. It puts our clients first, and ensures outstanding service and work levels are achieved.
PJT recognises the need for training and ongoing professional development. On joining PJT, new team members undergo rigorous training on our systems, software and processes. It can take up to 6 months to fully train a new member of staff. In addition to this, Accountants attend weekly professional development training sessions, and all team members have annual training goals documented and achieved. This not only helps them develop in their chosen field, but in personal development aspects as well. Regular feedback is provided to ensure the training is well received.
PJT is Accountable - daily goal sessions are held at morning tea time, where the entire team come together and report their goals and promises for the day. This quick catch up keeps everyone in the loop, and enables the team to down tools for a morning snack. PJT has broader quarterly goals which are reported on weekly. Each team member sets quarterly goals with their manager, and weekly staff meetings update all the team on progress. Directors are just as accountable to staff and clients, and have their own goals and status reports. Added to this we have 6 monthly staff reviews, which offer 360 degree feedback on how staff members are achieving in their job and serving their team members and clients. It's about being of service to each other as well as the clients, so we are all accountable.
PJT staff are all here to serve - each member of staff takes a rotation on Reception, to give our lovely Receptionist a break during morning tea. We are all here to serve our clients, and reception is a vital role in ensuring continuity of service. It is not below any of our team, not even our Directors.
PJT gives back to the community - each year PJT runs is annual Charity Bowls Day. Since its inception in 2006, PJT has raised over $50,000 for local charity Wishlist, to purchase medical equipment for our public hospitals. In addition to our annual charity event, each PJT team member gives a small donation through our fortnightly payroll, which goes directly to help local charities. PJT also adopts two families each festive season, donating a food hamper through the Salvation Army, and each November the boys get hairy in support of Movember and men’s health.
PJT works hard and plays hard - when it's time to down tools, it's always the quiet ones you have to watch. PJT is no exception! We regularly catch up and have social gatherings, both formal and informal. Monthly "shoot the breeze" lunches occur to encourage the team to catch up and "chew the fat" in a casual environment over lunch. Monthly morning teas are held where on a roster basis, team members brings in a plate to share. Twice a year the team celebrates officially with after-hours functions at our 30 June EOFY party, and End of Calendar Year close-down party where partners are invited. We work hard, but play just as hard, and of course there's also the occasional office prank - it's what keeps the team vibrant, connected and fun!
