PJT has 10 Commandments of Service which all team members adhere to.  It puts our clients first, and ensures outstanding service and work levels are achieved.

PJT recognises the need for training and ongoing professional development.  On joining PJT, new team members undergo rigorous training on our systems, software and processes.  It can take up to 6 months to fully train a new member of staff.  In addition to this, Accountants attend weekly professional development training sessions, and all team members have annual training goals documented and achieved.  This not only helps them develop in their chosen field, but in personal development aspects as well.  Regular feedback is provided to ensure the training is well received.

PJT is Accountable - daily goal sessions are held at morning tea time, where the entire team come together and report their goals and promises for the day.  This quick catch up keeps everyone in the loop, and enables the team to down tools for a morning snack.   PJT has broader quarterly goals which are reported on weekly. Each team member sets quarterly goals with their manager, and weekly staff meetings update all the team on progress.  Directors are just as accountable to staff and clients, and have their own goals and status reports.  Added to this we have 6 monthly staff reviews, which offer 360 degree feedback on how staff members are achieving in their job and serving their team members and clients.  It's about being of service to each other as well as the clients, so we are all accountable.

PJT staff are all here to serve - each member of staff takes a rotation on Reception, to give our lovely Receptionist a break during morning tea. We are all here to serve our clients, and reception is a vital role in ensuring continuity of service.  It is not below any of our team, not even our Directors.

PJT gives back to the community - each year PJT runs is annual Charity Bowls Day.  Since its inception in 2006, PJT has raised over $50,000 for local charity Wishlist, to purchase medical equipment for our public hospitals.   In addition to our annual charity event, each PJT team member gives a small donation through our fortnightly payroll, which goes directly to help local charities. PJT also adopts two families each festive season, donating a food hamper through the Salvation Army, and each November the boys get hairy in support of Movember and men’s health.

PJT works hard and plays hard - when it's time to down tools, it's always the quiet ones you have to watch.   PJT is no exception!  We regularly catch up and have social gatherings, both formal and informal.   Monthly "shoot the breeze" lunches occur to encourage the team to catch up and "chew the fat" in a casual environment over lunch.  Monthly morning teas are held where on a roster basis, team members brings in a plate to share. Twice a year the team celebrates officially with after-hours functions at our 30 June EOFY party, and End of Calendar Year close-down party where partners are invited.   We work hard, but play just as hard, and of course there's also the occasional office prank - it's what keeps the team vibrant, connected and fun!

SENIOR BUSINESS ADVISOR / CLIENT MANAGER

Job Summary

PJT Accountants & Business Advisors are a Business Advisory firm driving innovation and excellence for our SME client base.

Our aim is to give our business clients visibility over their business, freedom to do the things they love, and financial success so they have the business – lifestyle – success all business owners strive for.

We are currently looking for a full time Senior Business Advisor, with a warm personality and superior communication skills; a strong interest in their clients’ success, and an excellent understanding of financial and commercial functions within small to medium enterprises.

The successful candidate will ideally have professional qualifications in commerce or accounting, along with a minimum of 7+ years’ experience at a senior level, providing commercial business advice and implementing successful strategies for their client’s businesses.  First hand experience in owning or running a business whilst not mandatory, will be highly regarded by our clients.

About the Role

At PJT we have an exciting opportunity for a Business Services Advisor to join the team.  In this highly varied and autonomous role, you will be take charge of your own client list and manage the delivery of work to those clients.  You’ll also support our accountants with expertise and advice, when sought, to help them learn. You will build strong relationships with your clients, providing quality advice and continually looking for ways to add value to their business.  A passion for helping them achieve their goals is paramount.

Some of your specific duties will include:

  • Manage a client base across a variety of industries for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals
  • Manage your own fee base – this is a minimal compliance work role and is heavily focused on business advisory work from new and existing clients
  • Be the first point of contact for larger clients, and responsible for client retention across your base
  • Maintain continual and regular client contact by phone and in person
  • Provide Advisory Services including tax structuring, planning, business setup, growth strategies, development of cash flow projections and more
  • Provide guidance and undertake professional reviews of financial statements, income tax returns, BAS and other compliance work done by our accountant team
  • Development of relationships with third party providers, market suppliers and influencers – existing and new contacts which you develop
  • Independent lead development and conversion of leads provided from our marketing programs
  • Presenting on behalf of the firm at PJT and at third party events as required, and represent the firm at industry and networking events
  • Identify issues of concern and opportunities for our firm to improve

About You

We are looking to meet ambitious professionals who want to progress their way with an innovative business.

To be considered for this senior role, you will meet the following criteria:

  • CA/CPA qualified accountant with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in delivering professional accounting and business advisory services
  • Experience with a variety of clients and industries
  • Demonstrated ability to be a business builder with a proven track record
  • Strengths in business development & client relationship management
  • Connections with key influencers and suppliers to the SME business market
  • Experience in undertaking due diligence work for clients who are buying a business
  • Extensive experience with valuations of businesses, shares, and intangible assets
  • Undertake reviews of clients’ compliance work, giving productive feedback to junior accountants
  • Manage a considerable tax portfolio
  • Ability to build, understand and interpret complex financial models
  • Outstanding communication skills – written and verbal, and comfortable preparing and presenting at events
  • Solid negotiation and sales skills, ability to identify and close opportunities
  • First class presentation
  • Team player with the energy to work hard and play hard
  • Have genuine care for your clients with a strong work ethic to produce high standards of work and work with a sense of urgency

INTERMEDIATE / SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Job Summary / About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate/Senior Accountant to join our team.

In this highly varied role you will be responsible for providing quality, timely, and cost effective accounting and business services, building strong relationships with your clients to exceed expectations and add value to their business.

Some of your specific duties will include:

  • Managing a client base across a variety of industries for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals;
  • Completing Financial Statements, Tax Returns, BAS and other requirements;
  • Managing a range of FBT, GST, CGT and other tax related issues; and
  • Identifying issues of concern and opportunities as they arise to take appropriate action;
  • Superannuation experience is highly desirable

About You

To be considered for this role you will be a tertiary qualified Accountant, and be qualified or working towards your CA/CPA qualification. You must also have extensive computer literacy in accounting and business programs. A minimum of 5 years’ industry experience is required to be considered for this role.

The ideal candidate will have comprehensive industry experience and exposure to a wide variety of compliance tasks. You will be highly familiar with the application of tax regimes to client scenarios, including BAS, GST, FBT, and CGT. However, your knowledge must extend beyond tax to the wider implications of accounting and business structure; your commercial experience will give you the ability to provide 'real world' business advice, and your experience working with your own client base will allow you to effectively interact with PJT clients across a variety of industries. Understanding of Superannuation with RG146 compliance would also be a distinct advantage.

You will need experience in managing your workflow to achieve deadlines, and be adept at overcoming roadblocks.  You're a team player with the energy to work hard and play hard! Most importantly, you will have a genuine care for your clients, with a strong work ethic to produce your highest standards, and you're not afraid of picking up the phone to your clients on a regular basis.
